The winner of the jazz category is JAZZATION!
Várakozással és próbanapokkal teli nyárelő után elérkezett július 22-e, amikor a Jazzation Grazba indult, hogy Európa egyik legnívósabb acappella versenyének jazz kategóriájában megmutassa magát. A késő esti érkezés dacára másnap kipihenten, de némi izgalommal lépett színpadra a magyar formáció a 12 versenyző együttest számláló mezőnyben, a grazi Dom Im Berg színpadán. A nemzetközi zsűri tagjai - Anders Jalkéus (SWE), Kim Nazarian (USA), Bob Stoloff (USA) és Mathias Becker (GER) - a délután kettőtől ötig, majd este fél 8-tól 10-ig tartó, két félidős minősítő versenyen arany diplomát, és az első helyezéssel járó fődíját, a Ward Swingle Awardot a magyar Jazzation együttesnek adományozta; második helyen a mindössze tizenöt év átlagéletkorú grúziai The Quintessential Five; harmadik, osztott helyen pedig a német Les Brunettes és a dán Singers együttes végzett. Az 1.500 eurós pénzdíj mellett az AKG hangtechnikai cég mikrofonjainak, és a Taiwanon évenként megrendezett acappella verseny meghívásának boldog tulajdonosai a Jazzation aranytorkú énekesei. A late night arrival preceded the next day’s showcase, where Jazzation’s performance was just one amongst 12 other high-level competitors on the stage of the Dom Im Berg in Graz. After hearing all performers, the international jury members – Anders Jalkéus(SWE), Kim Nazarian (USA), Bob Stoloff (USA) and Mathias Becker (GER) – decided on presenting Jazzation with a gold diploma and the first prize, the Ward Swingle Award in the jazz category; in second place, the ensemble made up of fifteen-year-olds, The Quintesssential Five from Georgia; and in shared third place, the German Les Brunettesand the Singers from Denmark. Besides the 1.500 euro prize money, Jazzation also received complimentary microphones from the sponsoring AKG company, and an invitation to participate in the annual international acappella competition held in Taiwan.
