”Vocation: Jazzation!”

Katus Varallyay is the founding member of Jazzation; her acappella history reaches back to 2003, when a female acappella ensemble consisting of American housewives in Budapest suddenly needed a soprano singer. Katus was accepted, and started participating in the English rehearsals until she started longing for something slightly more professional, but at least as much fun. Actions followed dreams, and Jazzation was born in November 2005.

Katus has been singing since childhood, when she had her fair share of family musical education: it was actually always her dream to follow in the footsteps of her aunt, singer Judit Andrejszki.

It was an exciting and winding pathway leading from folk singing through world music to Jazzation, which today gives a rich music cultural heritage to any group work. Katus inspires Jazzation’s musical profile with folk themes and original lyrics, and is also the spokesperson and manager of the group’s affairs. She’s been married since 2006 and has two small children.
